More inspiration for brides

More inspiration

Here is some more inspiration for brides for 2014. This amazing shape is for a bride with confidence in her figure.
The delicate bead work  is all over the bodice of the dress, with the ability to sparkle in the sunshine or when the lights go on, defines every curve of the brides feminine shape.

The cala lilies compliment the shape of the dress.

Or what about this for elegance and romance. A delicate feature at the waist to show off a tiny waist and the detailing over the shoulders and on the bust line to frame the head and shoulders which will be in nearly every photo on "The day"

Ideas for brides to be in 2014

Long elegant sleeves with areas that you see through and areas of delicate work.
Personally I like long sleeves rather than 3/4 sleeves as then tend to elongate the whole design and look in a picture or photo. Some how when you look at a photo or yourself in a mirror when you shorten the sleeve and hold your flowers, your arms look stumpy and out of proportion.

Big Skirts seem to be coming back into popularity, even a layered effect.

Bespoke bride

Bespoke embroidery

There are not enough hours to my days, I just wish I knew how to make more. However I had to make time to share these with you.

A relaxed and happy Bride on the way to the church with her Dad.

This is a photo of the Bride enjoying her "Big Day" sitting amongst the bluebells.
The embroidery on her dress had a Scottish theme with Rennie Mackintosh style roses and the Scottish thistle and even more personal were hidden the couple initials.
The back of the dress echoed the theme down to the embroidered buttons which held the train in place.

The Happy couple enjoying their surroundings and the sunshine of the day.

Mum, Dad, Bride and bridemaids' all looking very smart in their outfits supplied by us. Thank you to them for letting me be there to capture these memories.

It was the most beautiful day for a wonderful occasion and the lucky umbrella seemed to work!
I am delighted to have been able to share these photos with you and I am not sure if it was this couples friends and family but that weekend my blog had 71 hits in one day, so thank you for taking the time to catch up with my news.

Inspiration for 2013 Brides

Beginning of a New Year and for those of you getting married in 2013 it is so
exciting and you have so many decisions to make. However fear not, that is where I can help because with years of experience at helping brides and grooms and all your entourage,it is possible to make it enjoyable and fun. If you have some ideas of what you think you want then I can listen and help turn your dreams into a reality.
I always have too many ideas and it just takes me to meet you for a while so that I can work out what suits you for your wedding.

Some couples know whether they want a certain vintage or a classic traditional feel to their wedding. Once you set the scene pick the date imagine what you want then you are starting to get the notion. Firstly you have got to be practical and decide on a budget, work out what you really want and what you can sacrifice if you have to. We can't always have all that we want in life, you have to choose what is important to you.
The best thing I think is to do a scrapbook or a note book, stick all your thoughts and ideas into it and take notes when you get ideas. This is what I do and it is my new years resolution to share more of my ideas and thoughts with you all. Nowadays with the internet it is so easy for anybody to collect images of the things they like and it is such an easy way for you to convey what your taste is.

So go for it, get that note book started and bring it with you when you make an appointment to come and meet me in the shop.
If you have a theme or a colour, the slightest thing to get you started then I can help you with what suits you for your Special day.

Thanks

It is just lovely when someone takes the time to say "Thank you".

Hi Joanne

I just wanted to drop you an email to tell you how great you are as a designer and dressmaker!!  I was so delighted when I first came to see you as you were the first person to actually listen to what I wanted for my wedding dress and I had a short time frame which was never a problem for you.  I had an idea in my head and you made that possible, and my happiness with my dress was the priority throughout!

You know what it means for a bride to feel good in what she wears on her wedding day... that is very clear.   Never once did you make me feel that my ideas were not possible.  THANK YOU!    You take all the fuss out of it!  Never once was I stressed about it after I came to see you!   I certainly will spread the word about you because you are fantastic!!!

I've attached a few photos that I thought you might like to see!  :o)

THANK YOU AGAIN!

Sharon

Thank you Sharon for the photos of your "Big Day" and your kind comments.

The latest from the world of Fashion

While last weekend the news was out that Patrick Kelty and Cat Deely had got married in Rome it was impossible to find pictures of her dress.
However Holly Valance was getting married to Nick Candy in Beverly Hills and there were lots of pictures.
Holly wore a wedding dress designed by J’Aton whicand Gabbana.h combined a meringue like skirt and a bodice top. Her 39 year old husband was dressed by Dolce.

Meanwhile Mr Middleton was giving away another Bride in the heart of England not another daughter however, this time is was a friend of the family with a stunning vintage inspired wedding dress.

Pretty Pippa, left, wore a coffee-coloured dress in broderie anglaise.
While canny Kate, right,  wore a pastel blue silk Erdem Moralioglu dress with floral embroidery, which she also wore to Trooping the Colour in June. Pippa wore a romantic rose on a small beret and Kate wore the same hat with her  Erdem again.

While in Downton Abbey Lady Edith was upstaging her sisters in her wedding dress which I need to watch on the television tonight to get you some good images. However sadly the wedding was stopped as the groom took cold feet. The Girls all looked stunning.
In Paris Chanel was putting on a show  which looked like it had been inspired  from the past but in a perfect in every way.
It makes you look forward to what is to come in Spring Summer 2013.

Karl Lagerfield at Paris fashion Week
Valentino with embroidery that looked inspired by Downton Abbey
Alexander McQueen's successor set Paris abuzz with her bee-inspired collection, while Chanel wowed, yet again, with restrained elegance and colourful boucle at the Grand Palais, and Valentino went for power with print and patterns during day eight of the spring/summer 2013 collections
Sarah Burton is in a sweet spot. The fashion  house at which she succeeded the late Alexander  McQueen is riding a wave of commercial success, powered by last year's royal wedding dress. Meanwhile her catwalk collections, which were good right from the start, get better with each passing season.

Her collection for Alexander McQueen was a knockout not only by her standards, but by those set by McQueen himself. Burton's McQueen is a different place from that which she inherited: she has clipped some of the thorns, and let the sunlight in.

The queen bee and her hive were the starting points for a collection which was, as is right and proper at McQueen, tempting as honey but with a deadly sting. Organza and lace suits were embroidered with hexagons and honey bees; cocktail dresses in nectar-sweet colours were dotted with appliqué flowers caught between their silk layers.
Beekeeper hats in laser-cut patent leather and crystal wedge heels packed honeycomb-tight with amber crystals bookended looks of perfect symmetry. By the time Burton took her bow, to the tune of the Archies' Sugar Sugar, the designer had made one thing very clear: duchesses are terrifically useful publicity, but this label needs no other queen bee.
